The HSE – NJHS chapter volunteered at The Beacon this month. The Beacon is a homeless shelter in downtown Houston. At The Beacon, we helped with laundry, preparing and handing out lunches, and giving backpacks of supplies to the homeless. Overall, it was a fun and enriching experience for all.

In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for Gifted and Talented (G/T) screening.

Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Students in grades 2 & up who were tested in Fall 2020 are not eligible to test in Spring 2021. Electronic referral forms are available below.

Dear Mustang Students & Parents/Guardians, the 2021-2022 Course Selection Meeting is approaching, this is 1 on 1 Meeting with Counselors, please go here for more information..

Dear 8th Grade Students and Parents/Guardians,
We have updated our new 8th Grade College and Career Guidance Program that meets on Wednesdays at 8:00am.  We proudly inform you that HSI-Sugar Land High School College & Career Counselors will meet their assigned 8th Grade students on a weekly basis on Mondays until the end of the fall semester to assist them with completing their Academic Plan, providing information on how to plan their high school programs, identifying college and career interests, high school course selection process, and much more. Mr. Ahmadov will continue to coordinate this course.

It’s important to let kids be kids, but in the selective admissions process, every move in high school counts – from the first day of freshman year to the last senior year exam. More and more families are beginning the college prep process in the eighth grade, aiming to set their students up for success at the start of high school.

Colleges look at all four years of high school grades, courses, activities, and more when evaluating applicants – not just records from junior and senior year like many families believe. By starting simple college preparation in eighth grade, students are poised to have a strong start to their high school careers – something that can set them apart from other applicants when it comes time for colleges to decide who to admit.

There are simple steps that students and parents can take to set students up for success and build a strong applicant profile, without provoking the stress of college admissions too early.

Students should already be able to see the course in their schedules in Skyward as well as the coordinating courses in Schoology. The course is labeled “College and Career Counseling.”
Here is the Alpha-Split Plan below for your reference to find out who your assigned counselor is:
  • Mrs. Sevinc Dok                  A-Ca

Dear Families,

We are thankful!

As we prepare to take a short break from school for Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude for everyone who makes it possible for as many students as possible to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn. We thank:

  • Our students and families for making daily attendance a priority since they know the habit of attendance will help them do well in the classroom and eventually in a job.
  • Our wonderful teachers who pour their energy into making each classroom an exciting place for exploration and knowledge so children do not want to miss out on learning
  • Our support staff and community volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our children need

We appreciate each one of you so much. We look forward to seeing you after the Thanksgiving holiday. We also hope you will keep in mind that school is closed on Friday, November 20th at 4pm and reopens Monday, November 30th at 7:30pm

We especially appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days off during the Thanksgiving holiday. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and leave your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school.

Principal Sefik Ekmen,

Queridas familias,

¡Estamos agradecidos!

Principal Sefik Ekmen,

Dear 8th Grade Parents/Guardians: HSE-Sugar Land will host a PSAT 8/9 makeup test from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, for any 8th grader who has not yet tested. This includes students who registered for the Nov. 7 test and could not make it, as well as those who missed the first […]
