Dear Parents/Guardians:

We look forward to seeing your students Tuesday, May 11 for the STAAR Math test and Wednesday, May 12 for the STAAR Reading test.

Please Note: If a student has a school assigned Chromebook they will need to bring their Chromebook with them for testing.

***Make sure the Chromebook is fully charged***

If your student took the Algebra I EOC, they do not take the STAAR Math test.

Please Note: Your student can still take the test even if you did not complete the STAAR survey our campus sent out or you said “No,” on the survey, that your student would not test. Just bring them on test day!

What you need to know for test days:

  • Students must arrive by 7:30 a.m. to begin testing at 8 a.m. Drop-off is in the back of the school.
  • All students must be picked up at 12:30 p.m. There are no early pick-ups, as testing will not officially end until then; if ALL students finish testing early, then the school will notify parents that dismissal has begun early. You do not need a car plate to pick up your child on testing days. Tell the dismissal team the name of your student, and we will radio to call them to come out. All students must be picked up by 1:30 p.m., including in-person learning students.
  • Uniforms are not required. Students may free-dress according to the handbook guidelines.
  • STUDENTS MUST WEAR A MASK TO CAMPUS. STUDENTS WITHOUT A MASK WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE BUILDING. Face shields may be worn in addition to a mask, but they cannot be worn in place of a mask.
  • Students MUST bring their school-issued Chromebooks to the test. Since all grade levels are testing on these days, if your student has  a school-issued Chromebook, they need to bring it to test. Please make sure it is fully charged!
  • Students will be provided a snack during testing. Virtual learning students may have lunch after they leave campus at 12:30 p.m. In-person learning students will eat on campus when testing ends.
  • Students should bring a full clear/transparent water bottle to campus. Due to COVID-19 safety measures, students DO NOT have access to water fountains this school year.
  • Students may not use their phones during the test. It is best they leave their phones at home for testing security. If they bring their phones, they will be collected and stored in a secure location until the test is over.
  • Some classes are asynchronous May 11 and 12. Non-testing students must attend live Zoom classes and complete their assignments and exit tickets for L1-L3 by 11:59 p.m. They should go to their teacher’s Schoology page to see if the class is live or asynchronous; teachers who are not proctoring the test will still have live classes for non testing students. All L4 and L5 classes will be asynchronous; all students need to complete assignments and exit tickets for these classes by 11:59 p.m.
  • Students who want to pick up a PRIDE Store order do not need to go to the front office with their proof of purchase. We will bring the orders to the students when testing finishes.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

Go Mustangs!
